Abstract

Abstract
Ayurveda is the most ancient science of life. Ayurveda considers that like all the universal matter, our body is also formed by the Panchamahabutas (five basic elements). In this Panchabhautika Sharira, various processes are going on continuously resulting into loss of various elements. For replacement, one has to consume appropriate Ahara (food). Acharya Charaka states that body is the outcome of food and Agni (factor responsible for digestion) plays important role for proper digestion and metabolism of Ahara (food). Ahara paka in Ayurveda signifies its relevance with modern texts also. This hypothesis evolved thousand years before, after extensive research work is proving its scientific status even today.
