Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is the most common gynaecological disorder in adolescent women, as the incidence of dysmenorrhea is highest with estimates ranging from 20 to 90%. Recurrent short-term school absence is the leading cause of dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls. Curative options in conventional medicine for dysmenorrhea include NSAIDS, oral contraceptives and surgical interventions, but because of the adverse effects, of NSAIDS and OCPs more and more patients are opting for alternative methods of treatments. Dysmenorrhea is being treated by Unani medicines and yoga therapies since ancient times. Therefore, objective of this case series was to evaluate efficacy of Unani medicine and yoga therapies separately and in combination by using Visual Analogue Scale for three menstrual cycles. Pain intensity was assessed by Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score for pain before and after treatment.
