Structured Teaching Programme on Planned Parenthood among Primigravida Mothers

Abstract


Introduction: Parenting is the hardest job any person will ever have. Planning about parenthood is considered as a vital step in economic and social planning. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme (STP) on knowledge regarding planned parenthood among primigravida mothers. Methodology: A pre-experimental one group pretest posttest design was employed in the study. The sample consist of 50 primigravida mothers selected by simple random sampling at village Cholta Khurd and Badali district, Mohali, Punjab, India. The data were collected with the help of self developed questionnaire before and after the administration of STP. Result: It was observed that mean ±SD knowledge score of subjects was 14.90±3.732 at pretest level whereas 22.34 ±1.902 at posttest level. Further test was used to determine the effectiveness of STP and observed statistically significant (P≤0.05). Conclusion: The STP was found to be effective in terms of increasing knowledge of mothers regarding planned parenthood.
