Recent Trends-Acceptance and Adaptability among Nurses

Abstract


Background: Trends in nursing are some important changes, which occur over a time with respect to some phenomenon. Nurses especially have felt the enduring sting of the recent crisis and they continue to struggle with high patient-nurse ratios, poor professional atmosphere counter-balanced by the hope of a growing cohort of well-educated, young nurses who are meeting high demands to care for the community. Trends are fascinating phenomena, but they do not exist in silos. Most are interrelated. One trend often has influence on another. Although trends are not followed continuously but they have their own impact somewhere in the day to day practice. Tidal waves of recent trends are producing new careers for nurses worldwide. Aim: To assess the acceptance and adaptability of recent nursing trends among nurses. Materials and Methods: A quantitative research approach and descriptive research design was used for this study. The study was conducted at Narayana Nursing Institutions, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. 50 nurses were selected by a simple random sampling technique. Check list consisting of 30 items was used to collect the data and the data was organized, tabulated, analysed and interpreted by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result: It showed that the acceptance level regarding recent trends among nurses as follows: 5(10%) had Best imaginable score, 9(18%) obtained Excellent, 12(24%) scored very good, 11(22%) of them had scored a good level, 8(16%) had average score and only 5(10%) of them had poor score. Conclusion: As the study report demonstrates the positive approach of nurses towards changing phenomena, we nurses will always be armed with acceptance and adaptability in all our future endeavour.
