Behavioral Problem in Adolescence: A Solution through Ayurveda

Abstract


Human beings have to pass different phases of life. Adolescence is a phase of physical, physiological and emotional changes in life and extends from 10 to 19 years of life. This phase of life is in between childhood and adulthood of human life. Along with marked physical, psychological changes rapid behavioural changes are also well noticed in this vulnerable phase of life. A huge group of individual suffer from a couple of behavioural disorder such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Conduct Disorder (CD), and Disruptive Behaviour Disorder (DBD) during adolescence age. Researches show that about 22.7% of teenagers suffer from mild to moderate type of behavioural disorder. Ayurvedic management for such disorders can be planned according to the specific rogi and samprapti of the vyadhi. Daivavyapashraya, Yuktivyapashraya, Sattwavajaya and Panchakarma Chikitsa can be utilized judiciously for the management of adolescence behavioural disorders. Ayurvedic management is a ray of hope in the field of adolescence care.
