Gyanendra kumar Gupta, Gagan Devi

Abstract

Ayurveda is the science of life and its main aim is to maintain the healthy status of a healthy living being that is, prevention and treatment of disease. Ayurveda has accepted that the human body is made up of innumerable Srotus which are responsible for performing all the activities of the body. The researchers of Ayurveda could rule out the presence of Srotus spreading throughout the human body. These Srotus are governed by vayu which is using all the Srotus of the body to carry out all the activities of human body. Without these Srotus human life will not exist. Srotus play an important role in physiological and pathological manifestation that is, in state of health and disease. The aim of the present study was to justify that Srotus are nothing but innumerable channels/pathways /cells without which no activities of the human body will develop. There is a need to study the fundamental and applied aspect of the Srotus in order to understand ayurvedic biology and disease processes in depth. The present article overviewed and lighted up the main study of Srotus already given in different Ayurvedic texts and compared it with today’s era.
