Management of Discolored Maxillary Anterior Teeth Using Porcelain Laminate Veneers: A Case Report

Darshit Doshi

Abstract

Teeth discoloration is a common problem and affects people of all ages. Apart from the conventional treatment modalities for the same, newer options are available today with better techniques and materials. Porcelain laminate veneer is used widely throughout the world for aesthetic correction for discolored and damaged tooth structures. Certain properties of dental ceramic when used as a restorative material such as excellent color stability, acceptable mechanical strength, satisfactory aesthetic appearance due to glass phase providing translucency and its compatibility with surrounding periodontal tissues make this material a good choice for such treatment. Use of porcelain laminate veneers conservatively provides satisfactory aesthetic results and also preserves sound tooth structure as it requires minimum tooth preparation.
