The excessive use of smartphones can contribute to Smartphone Addiction (SA), and this condition is associated with Alexithymia in the southern Gujarat region.
Method : Students aged between 17 and 27 years were selected from various colleges in South Gujarat using a convenient sampling method. The prevalence of Alexithymia was determined among 457 participants, and 117 subjects meeting the inclusion criteria were included in the study. Smartphone addiction levels were assessed using the Smartphone Addiction Scale Short Version (SAS-SV), while Alexithymia was measured with the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS), and neck disability was evaluated using the Neck Disability Index (NDI).
Result : The research revealed that 52% of participants exhibited Alexithymia, while 59% showed Smartphone Addiction (SA). The Spearman correlation analysis indicated a moderate positive correlation between SAS-SV and TAS (r=0.63, p>0.05), as well as between SAS-SV and NDI (r=0.52, p>0.05). However, there was no statistically significant correlation observed between the variables (r >0.05).
Conclusion : The research findings suggest that individuals addicted to smartphones in this age group exhibit notable characteristics of alexithymia, along with neck pain and disability resulting from excessive smartphone usage
2023-12-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2023 Research & Reviews: A Journal of Health Professionshttps://medicaljournals.stmjournals.in/index.php/RRJoHP/article/view/3331Knowledge On Biomedical Waste Management Among II Year GNM Students At Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Institute Of Nursing,Bengaluru2024-03-15T07:21:20+00:00SOPHIA Gsophiageorge11@gmail.comObjectives: To assess the knowledge on Biomedical waste management among II Year GNM Students at Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Institute of Nursing,Bengaluru.”To associate the knowledge on Biomedical waste management among II Year GNM Students with their selected demographic variables.Hypothesis: There will be a significant association between the level of knowledge on biomedical waste management among II Year GNM Students with their selected demographic variables.Conceptual framework: The conceptual framework based on Health Belief Model, this model was created by Becker .Research approach: Quantitative evaluative approach. It is a heterogeneous disorder etiology of which is not known completely. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) arises from ovarian dysfunction and various biochemical irregularities, serving as the leading cause of anovulatory infertility. Women affected by this condition typically exhibit characteristics such as infrequent or absent ovulation, signs of elevated androgens, the presence of multiple ovarian cysts, and an increased likelihood of experiencing dyslipidemia and insulin resistance. These metabolic issues contribute to long-term health concerns, accentuating the significance of addressing and managing PCOS for the well-being of affected individuals.
2023-12-29T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2023 Research & Reviews: A Journal of Health Professionshttps://medicaljournals.stmjournals.in/index.php/RRJoHP/article/view/3352Mental Health and Artificial Intelligence (AI): Marching towards Future2024-03-15T07:21:21+00:00Boominathan Vboomivinyk@gmail.comRoopamathy Mboomivinyk@gmail.comOne of the most crucial but frequently disregarded facets of our wellbeing is our mental health. In the medical domains of dermatology, radiology, and oncology, artificial intelligence (AI) is being used more and more. AI hasn't been heavily utilised in mental healthcare, though. The need for AI to help identify high-risk individuals and give interventions to prevent and treat mental illnesses is essential due to the high morbidity and mortality rates associated with psychiatric disorders and the growing lack of mental healthcare providers. Although there isn't much published research on AI in psychiatry, there are increasing numbers of successful applications of AI in social media platforms, brain imaging, electronic health records, and sensor-based monitoring systems that can be used to predict, categories, or subgroup mental illnesses as well as issues like suicidality. With the help of this technology, we can now think differently about mental health and give individuals who are battling fresh hope. We will examine the use of AI, its difficulties, and potential issues in the field of mental health in this article.2023-12-29T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2023 Research & Reviews: A Journal of Health Professionshttps://medicaljournals.stmjournals.in/index.php/RRJoHP/article/view/3357Prevalence of Obesity among School Children in South Delhi2024-03-15T07:21:21+00:00Atiya Anjumanjumatiya1407@gmail.comShazia Anjumanjumatiya1407@gmail.comShazia Jilanianjumatiya1407@gmail.comM. Junaid Siddiquianjumatiya1407@gmail.comIntroduction: Being overweight or obese constitutes well-established risk elements for non- communicable diseases (NCDs), bringing about a range of health implications. The global increase in obesity rates has impacted nations across the spectrum of development, encompassing both developed and developing regions, with India being no exception. Children and adolescents are increasingly vulnerable to obesity, raising concerns about its long-term health impacts. Material and Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the occurrence of overweight and obesity among students attending schools in South Delhi. The selection process involved using stratified random sampling to choose both a government and a private school for the study. Students from classes V (preadolescent) and IX (adolescent) were included. A self-structured, pretested, validated questionnaire was used, and anthropometric measurements were taken to categorize subjects using World Health Organization BMI cut-offs. Observation and Result: Out of 171 participating school children, 13.45% were classified as overweight or obese. The prevalence was higher in the adolescent age group (IX standard) compared to the preadolescent group (V standard). Boys exhibited a higher prevalence (16.53%) than girls (6%), particularly in the adolescent age category. Private schools showed a higher prevalence compared to government schools (21.81% in boys, 3.70% in girls). Discussion: The study confirms a significant prevalence of obesity (13.45%) among schoolchildren in South Delhi, with notable gender disparities and age-related patterns. The findings align with similar studies in India, emphasizing the higher prevalence in boys and adolescents. Private schools demonstrated a higher prevalence than government schools, consistent with observations in other regions. This research focuses on the rising occurrence of overweight and obesity among students in South Delhi, India.2023-12-29T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2023 Research & Reviews: A Journal of Health Professions
