Knowledge on MSE (Mental Status Examination) Among Nursing Students

Abstract


The objective of the study is to assess the knowledge on mental status examination and to find out the association between the level of knowledge and demographic variables. A non-experimental study was conducted on mental status examination with 30 nursing students in Govt. Rajaji Hospital at Madurai. The data was collected by means of a self-administered questionnaire. The obtained data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Most of the student (22) had adequate knowledge with a mean score of 9.04 and 8 students had inadequate knowledge with a mean score of 6.87. Further there was association of the level of knowledge with the sources of information and it was statistically significant at p<0.05 level. The study finding concludes that the student nurses had adequate knowledge regarding mental status examination.
