It also helps to know the various complications of thrombocytopenia and its management. Method: 63 patients of fever with decrease platelet count admitted to Pediatrics ward, Dhiraj general hospital, from the time of July 2015 to June 2016. Result: Septicemia was the commonest cause of febrile thrombocytopenia, among malarial species P. vivex is found to be most common. Bleeding manifestations were seen in 17% of patients. 64% of patients had petechiae/purpura as the commonest bleeding manifestation, Good recovery was noted in 89% while 6% had mortality and 5% went DAMA. Dengue VHF and Septicemia accounted for 50% of deaths each. Interpretation and conclusion: Septicemia was the commonest cause of fever with thrombocytopenia. Identification of causative etiology and prompt treatment gives good outcome and avoid the need for platelet transfusion. Mortality is not directly affected by thrombocytopenia
