Thrombocytopenia is a routine characteristic of severe malaria and happens in both P. falciparum and P. vivax disease regardless of the acuteness of infection. The study was conducted in the population of Nadiyad city, and district Kheda of Gujarat state, India; from July 01, 2017 to Oct 31, 2017. The chosen target population was for a purposeful screening. From them 53(84.1%) were males and 10(15.8%) were females. Majority of patients were between 10 and 65. Thrombocytopenia was observed in 52 patients (82.53%). In this study group, 54 patients (85.71%) were positive for Plasmodium vivex and 9 (14.28%) patients were positive for plasmodium falciparum. It was noted that moderate thrombocytopenia has seen in malaria patients.
