Changing Trends in Advanced Epithelial Ovarian Cancer - A Review

D. K. Vijay kumar, Anupama Rajanbabu

Abstract

Despite the advances in surgery and chemotherapy, the outcome of patients affected with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer continues to be poor. Now researchers are looking at ovarian cancer through newer perspectives so as to find better treatment modalities that can improve overall survival (OS).  In this chapter, we have briefly reviewed the newer areas of research in epithelial ovarian cancer. We look at how better understanding of the molecular biology, changes in mode of chemotherapy administration and newer targeted agents have improved the outlook for the future.
