Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of Appendix at Young Age: A Rare Case Report

Abstract

With controversial treatment of mucinous adenocarcinoma of appendix with rare incidence of about 0.5% off all GI cancers [1], we present a case of young 30 year old male who presented with symptoms of pain abdomen, on and off abdominal distension with decrease appetite. The patient’s caecum, appendix, ascending colon, transverse colon and part of descending colon was resected and end ileostomy was done. Patient was with us for about one month and was discharged. Mucinous adenocarcinoma accounts for 5% of cancers of appendix with an average age of 60 year and with even distribution between men and women [2]. This case describes a rare case of mucinous adenocarcinoma of appendix presented to us in such young age of 30 years.
