Unani Traditional, Phytochemical and Pharmacological Review on Mentha arvensis

Abstract


Lots of routinely used herbal derivatives in our daily life has significant medicinal properties which are widely used throughout the world without knowing its true medicinal value and importance. Mentha arvensis commonly known as Pudina belongs to the family Lamiacea, widely distributed all over India. Herbal extracts of M. arvensis are used for maintenance and restoration of health and cure of diseases since time unknown which have immense importance even in the present time. In Unani traditional medicine whole plant specially leaves has been used for diseases of different systems such as respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, gastroenteritis, antidote etc. Essential oil of M. arvensis contains abundance of chemical constituents and properties which need to be bring to the fore. This review explains the enormous attribute of M. arvensis on female reproductive system.
