All types of sue-i-mizaj have their specific consequences and effects on every tissue of the human body. The clinical features of Sue-i-Mizaj Baridratab are nearly similar to that Hypothyroidism, which translated as Qillat-i-Darqiyyat in Unani system of medicine. Amongst all the endocrine disorders, Hypothyroidism is the most common and usually affects females. The lifetime risk of thyroid disorder in women is one in eight. In India 42 million people suffer from thyroid disorders and prevalence of hypothyroidism is about 11.5%. The symptoms of Hypothyroidism may vary from mild illness to severe life threatening complications like myxoedema and coma with the only available treatment being thyroxine replacement therapy, which on the other hand is associated with certain adverse events. Unani scholars possessed a deep understanding of sue-i-mizaj baridratab and successfully treated enormous cases. In this paper, an effort has been made to review all aspects of sue-i-mizaj barid ratab, its treatment and establish its relationship with hypothyroidism.
