Abstract

The Unani system of medicine is the medicine of centuries. Four types of treatment in Unani system are Ilaj-bil-Giza (Dietotherapy), Ilaj-bil-Dawa (Pharmacotherapy), Ilaj-bil-Yad (Surgery), and Ilaj-bil-Tadbeer (Regimental therapy). These are the main methods of Tibb disease treatment and health protection. Ilaj-bil-Tadbeer holds significant importance among the four mentioned types, as the majority of the systems are utilized either solely or in conjunction with medications. This highlights the crucial role of Ilaj-bil-Tadbeer in traditional healing practices and underscores its effectiveness in treating various ailments. Regimental therapy is a physical method of treatment, improving the constitution of the body by removing diseased material from the body. The Unani approach to healthcare revolves around restoring the balance of humors and tissues in the body, which is essential for good health. Regimental therapy is an effective tool in achieving this balance, as it helps to strengthen the immune system and promote overall health. In addition, adherence to the six essentials of life (Asbab-e-satta zarooria) plays a significant role in maintaining a healthy life. It is a key part of this approach as it helps to improve the immune system, leading to better overall health. Additionally, the use of Asbab-e-satta zarooria, or the six essentials of life, is also crucial in maintaining a healthy life and treating physical ailments. Through proper arrangement and utilization of these essentials, the Unani system of medicine is able to improve the quality of health and promote overall wellness. Most of the diseases are caused by the metabolic products that come from excessively accumulated food, blood and excessive impurities. Thus the concept of congestion or filling of the six methods of evacuation of blood supply, purgation, vomiting, sweating, diuresis, and cauterization are described. Bleeding of the testicles, leech therapy and cupping with scarification are some of the important parts of regimental therapy treatment of the system. Leech therapy, which is one of the most important and widely practiced methods known from ancient times is still alive. This fact testifies to its effectiveness in various health problems.
