Abstract

Annona squamosa known as Sitafal is a cherished fruit all over the world. Yet its medicinal uses remained unexplored with few mentions in modern Ayurvedic texts. In this article attempt has been made to specify the known properties of the plant by going through various Ayurvedic texts and pubmed indexed published research articles on Annona squamosa. This article will provide relevant knowledge for future researchers to explore the potential benefits of this plant. The Ayurvedic properties and properties discovered through modern clinical research have been critically reviewed and compared in this article.
