Important Product Used As Cosmetic in Unani Medicine

Abstract


Any single substance or compound product intended for local application of external parts of human body or teeth and mucosal membrane of oral cavity called as cosmetics. The cosmetics are exclusively or mainly used to cleaning, perfuming, beautifying, adorning, changing the personality and appearance, being attracting, etc. The knowledge of these natural cosmetic products was successfully compiled in Unani medicine specially in in Kitab al mansoori & 23rd volume of al hawi by Al-Rhazi (850–950 CE), Kamil al san’t by Al-Majoosi (d. 994 CE), Al-qanoon fi al tibb by Ibn Sina/Avicenna (980–1030 CE), Zakhira-e-khwarzam shahi by Al-Jurjani (d. 1135 CE) etc. The full description of these Unani products is given in the article. The main purpose of this article is to explore the information of Unani cosmetic product in brief way.
