Importance of Rasaushadhis in Ayurvedic Therapy and Recent Advances in the Field of Bhasma and Kupipakwa Rasayana

Abstract


Ayurveda is a science of life and deals with the one medicine known as Dravyaaushadhis or Rasaushadhis. The final aim of this is to achieve Bhukti and Mukti that prolongs life span and manufactures positive health. Ayurveda is based on tridosha and four folds of treatment.

In Ayurveda, many types of medicines are used for the treatment of diseases such as herbal, modern, herbal medicines, herbomineral medicines, and minerals/metals called as rashausadhis. Rasaushadhis play an important role in the field of treatment. Ayurveda due to its effectiveness in smaller dose, fast acting therapy kept for prolonged shelf life, and high socioeconomic status, treat geriatric patients etc.

These medicines are very genuine, safe, easy absorbable, assimilable, and colloidal as smaller the particle size better will be the absorption rate.

Rasaushadhis are therapeutically used in the pharmaceutical dosages form to Bhasma sindooras, etc. For this the pharmaceutical processing in standard operating procedure are technically adopted as sodhana, marana bhasmikarana kupipkwavidhan etc. Nowadays modern pharmaceutical applications are used and toxicity evaluation are also observed and given to the drugs for safety profiles.
