A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme Regarding Road Traffic Accident and Its Prevention among the Adolescents (11th to 12th Class) in Selected School of Bhilai (C.G.)

Abstract


Road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death among children and young adults aged 5–29 years. The main objective of this study was to assess the pre-test post-test knowledge regarding road traffic accident and its prevention among adolescents. Quasi-experimental, one group pre-test post-test research design was taken on. A total of 60 samples were selected using non-probability purposive sampling technique. The tool used for the study comprised of two sections. Socio-demographic variables such as age, sex, class, religion, type of family, educational status of father and mother, occupation of father and mother, and source of information were considered, comprising of structured questionnaire to assess the knowledge regarding road traffic accidents. Other study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding prevention of Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) among and its prevention which included 30 questions. Data were analyzed and interpreted by using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study findings reveled that pre-test mean and mean percentage was 14.81 and 24.69% and SD was 8.60 whereas the post-test mean and mean percentage was 14.81 and 24.69% and SD was 3.18. The t-value 2.0 was highly significant at 0.05 level of significance which proves the effectiveness of planned teaching programme regarding road traffic accident and its prevention.
