Thermoregulation in Neonates: An Integrative Review
Abstract
Temperature control of the newborn has played a significant role in altering the rate of infant
morbidity and mortality. Currently temperature control continues to play a major role in
neonatal health care. Thermoregulation is a basic requirement for good neonatal
management. It is one of the most complete aspects of care. Infants require temperature
stabilization immediately after birth. Precaution of heat loss is the first goal in neonatal
thermoregulation. It is of great importance that knowledge about thermoregulation should be
provided for mothers of neonates to prevent hypothermia.
