Abstract

The study was conducted ‘‘To assess the knowledge regarding rights and welfare schemes of differently abled children among mothers in a selected special school’’ The main objective of the study is to assess the level of knowledge of mothers regarding rights and welfare of differently abled children and their association with demographic variables. The current study employed a non-experimental descriptive research design. It involved 30 mothers with children under 12 years of age from a specific special school in Ettumanoor. The researchers utilized a non-probability convenience sampling technique to select the participants. After getting permission from school authority, data was collected to assess the knowledge and regarding rights and welfare schemes of differently abled children among mothers in a selected special School by using questionnaire. The data underwent analysis and interpretation through the application of both descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The results revealed that within a sample of 30 individuals, 26.6% of mothers possessed a commendable level of understanding concerning the rights and welfare initiatives for differently-abled children, while 56.6% exhibited a moderate level of knowledge, and 16.6% displayed a limited understanding. Moreover, the findings suggest that there is no noteworthy association between demographic variables and mothers' awareness regarding the rights and well-being of differently-abled children.
