Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge regarding Administration of Emergency Drugs to patients among Nursing Students at Selected College of Nursing

Abstract


Emergency department is an area where the nurses are encounter with many emergency and all emergencies seek attention and immediate care for life saving. Student nurses are posted in Emergency medicine, formerly known in some countries as accident and emergency medicine is the medical specialty involving care for undifferentiated and unscheduled patients with illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. In many emergency departments the nursing students are posted and they tasked with seeing a large number of patients, treating their illnesses and arranging for disposition—either admitting them to the hospital or releasing them after treatment as necessary because of that they require knowledge and skill regarding administration of emergency medication. Thus the investigators felt the need to conduct a study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding administration of emergency drugs to patients among nursing students. In this research study, sample size 250 nursing student in that the 66.8% are male student and 33.2% is female student. Findings related to assess the knowledge regarding administration me emergency drugs. After teaching the student they improve knowledge about emergency drugs administration.
