Kritika Mathur, Chirag Boghani, Shubhangi Jore

Abstract

In the era of internet, people are becoming more technology savvy. From a 10-year-old child to 60-year-old person, people are using internet in some or the other way. Statistics shows that people are using internet majorly for social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linked in etc. In this study, we try and understand the major reasons for joining the social media platforms, the repercussion of excessive usage and the ways to overcome their feelings to improve their mental health. However, relatively little attention has been paid to understand the ways to overcome the depression, loneliness and anxiety faced by an individual. Therefore, in this study we provide the current research landscape of this nascent field, which we hope would inspire further work in this area.
