Tooth Supported Overdenture: Preventive Prosthodontic Treatment Modality––A Case Report
Abstract
This is a case report of a very young patient who has lost all her maxillary teeth except canines and partially edentulous in the lower arch. The main concern here was to preserve the existing residual alveolar ridge from the resorption process and to rehabilitate functionally and esthetically. Initially, vestibuloplasty was performed on the buccal sulcus to increase the vestibular depth. The maxillary canines were intentionally root canal treated, followed by the post-space preparation and cementation of access posts with the ball attachments. Conventional methods were followed for the rest of the steps in fabricating the dentures. In the final insertion, the nylon caps were introduced into the denture using the direct technique. Conclusion: considering the limitation of this case, the use of posts with ball attachments has improved the retention and stability of the overdentures. This treatment option is very much affordable and much more acceptable than the conventional dentures to the patients.
