Abstract

Water is equivalent to life. One cannot predict life without water. Water is very essential for sustaining life in this planet. Water is an important compound as it sustains life however if It is not suitable for drinking or contaminated it may lead to an end of life. Therefore, the need of an hour is to analyse the quality of water before using it for any domestic purposes. There are many sources of water such as surface water, rain water, groundwater, seawater. Out of which groundwater is considered as the largest reservoir of fresh water that is readily available to humans. Since groundwater is an important source of fresh water in India therefore it is necessary to study its quality as well as its purity. This can be done using physico-chemical Parameters such as pH, alkalinity, Total hardness, Total dissolved salts, colour, temperature, sulphate, chloride, DO, BOD, COD for testing the groundwater quality. The main aim of this paper is to analyse the quality of groundwater using physico-chemical parameters with the help of literature review.
