Do Doctors and Engineers Think Differently?

Gurmeet Singh Sarla

Abstract

There exists an age old conflict of perception and execution between doctors and engineers and both think themselves to be better than the other. I realised it when once my wife, who is a metallurgical engineer, told me that doctors have a specific way of thinking and doing things which is different from similar things done by engineers. Is there a sort of technical rivalry between the doctors and engineers or do they work in harmony? This review article attempts to determine the analytical and implementational differences between doctors and engineers to infer as to who has a better way of analysing and executing things.
