Abstract

Gartner’s duct cysts develop from the vestigial remnants of mesonephric (Wolffian) ducts which most often develop during and after late adolescence. It is a rare disease entity; small cysts and asymptomatic cysts usually do not require any treatment. Symptomatic cysts are usually managed by procedures like cyst drainage or aspiration and intra-cystic tetracycline, whereas large cysts may be treated with surgical treatment. For small symptomatic cysts, Unani medicine may provide a safe conservative treatment. We represent the case of a 45 years old woman with a mass at the anterior vaginal wall confirmed with transvaginal ultrasound. In the case presented, the woman had mild symptoms of lower abdominal pain and sense of swelling. Conservative treatment with Unani drugs was given and the patient was found relieved even after one and half year of follow up. It may be concluded that Muhallil Advia like arqmako and arqkasni can be a safe option in the patients with mild symptoms and small sized Gartner’s duct cysts.
