Abstract

Abstract

Background: Vaginal infections particularly Vaginitis is one of the most frequent
gynecological problems in females especially and is one of the most prevalent infections among Reproductive tract infection (RTI)in their reproductive ages and has significant clinical consequences. It is one of the major public health problems among adolescents that cause a considerable proportion of gynecological morbidity and maternal mortality in the developing countries. Aim and Objectives: To assess knowledge status in women regarding major cause of Vaginitis and improve personal hygiene in abnormal vaginal discharge and its prevention by proper patient counselling. Methods: It is a Hospital based, Prospective, Cross-
sectional and Observational study with sample sizes of (N = 136) women with Age group between15 to more than 65 years and women with Vaginitis. Results: The study revealed that (75) 55.1% women had poor Knowledge about disease, most of the women complained of abnormal vaginal discharge. Vaginal discharge is not a serious problem in more than half of
them so did not consider that need medical examination. 57.3% of them opted for treatment and most common cause for not opting for treatment was that they considered it as a minor problem. Conclusion: This study concluded that knowledge enhancement program related to personal hygiene in Vaginitis and improve good practices. Health education interventions are recommended to raise women’s awareness of Vaginitis and its prevention.
