Adding more burden to such a challenging situation, mucormycosis, an invasive fungal infection, has seen a sudden rise in the number of COVID-19 patients. The second wave affects Indians greatly with a mysterious fungal infection. Here, we are reviewed the clinical pathogenesis, signs and symptoms and treatment. The findings here showed that the use of immunosuppressants to combat COVID-19 also increases the risk of contracting mucormycosis. Patients suffering from hyperglycemia, ketoacidosis, solid organ or bone marrow transplantation, liver cirrhosis, neutropenia is more likely to be attacked by mucormycosis moulds. The four key factors in eradicating mucormycosis are early diagnosis, removal of predisposing factors, surgical removal of all infected tissue with timely antifungal therapy and supportive treatment.
