TREATMENT OF ALLERGIC RHINITIS
Abstract
Allergic Rhinitis (AR) has high prevalence all over the world, significantly affecting the health & quality of life,
school or work performance and significant financial impact. AR is considered to have complex association with
genetic and environmental factors in etiology. The interaction between AR and other airway diseases such as
Chronic Rhinosinusitis with or without nasal polyp or asthma, Local allergic rhinitis remains to be clarified. AR has
shown to be caused by high T2 cytokines, IL-4, IL-5 & IL-13 which induce impairment of the nasal epithelial barrier
integrity. In this review, we will summarize the risk factors, clinical, diagnostic criteria, potential molecular
mechanism and therapeutic target by allergen immunotherapy (AIT) and biologicals.
