Abstract

The present case study was aimed to study the efficacy of mirror therapy along with conventional physiotherapy in relation to pain, range of motion and kinesiophobia in frozen shoulder. The purpose of the present study was to check the efficacy of mirror therapy along with conventional physiotherapy in improving kinesiophobia, pain and range of motion in patients with frozen shoulder. It was a single case study where a patient with stage II of frozen shoulder was reported to the Arogya Clinic, Jorhat, Assam, India requesting for home-based physiotherapy. The patient was given supervised conventional physiotherapy along with mirror therapy under constant guidance for five days a week for four weeks. Baseline measures of visual analogue scale for pain, goniometry for range of motion and the Tampa scale of kinesiophobia were taken on day 0, 7th, 14th, and on the last day after completion of treatment. The data were collected and pre- and post-treatment values were computed using SPSS software. It was seen that visual analogue scale decreased from 8 to 2 on the last day, range of motion for abduction and external rotation also showed gradual increase and kinesiophobia measurement using Tampa scale came down from 56 to 19 at the end of the study period. From the present case study we believe that additional treatment options needs to be explored and studied further.
