Abstract

Introduction: Developmental dyslexia is a condition that is characterized by difficulties that mainly affect the ability of a child to read, write, calculate and spell. Developmental dyslexics may have neglected due to subtle weakness in a string of cortical areas on the bilateral dorsal pathway of the brain. Aim of the study: To analyze the presence of neglect in semantic picture priming paradigm among Hindi developmental dyslexics and typically developing children. Method: 47 developmental dyslexics and 57 typically developing children participated in the study. Line bisection, target cancellation and semantic picture priming paradigm tasks were used to assess the presence of neglect. Result: Result of the current study revealed that developmental dyslexics performed poorer in all tasks compared to typically developing children and the presence of right-sided neglect was revealed. Conclusion: we can conclude that one of the causes of dyslexic’s error is neglect which due to the attention deficit.
