The objective of this study was to assess how the application of a ventilator bundle can effectively prevent cases of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in patients undergoing mechanical ventilation in designated hospitals in Nashik. The study adopted a quantitative evaluative approach, implementing a genuine experimental control group design. A total of 40 patients on mechanical ventilators were chosen, with 20 patients each assigned to the experimental and control groups through non-probability purposive sampling. "Information was collected utilizing a partially structured interview questionnaire. We utilized descriptive statistics, encompassing frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and inferential statistics involving the chi-square test for data analysis. The findings revealed that in the experimental group, 30% of patients were in the age range of 21-30 years, while in the control group, 35% were between 51-60 years old. Most patients in both cohorts were males, constituting 70% in the experimental group and 75% in the control group. A notable proportion of patients in both groups required ventilation due to CNS Disease issues. In terms of suctioning frequency, more patients in the experimental group underwent 2nd hourly suctioning (60%), whereas in the control group, a higher percentage underwent 3rd hourly suctioning (40%). Approximately 50% of patients in both groups had a history of smoking. During the post-test, fewer patients in the experimental group (25%) developed infections compared to the control group (35%) with mild infections and 20% with severe infections in the experimental group, and 65% with severe infections in the control group. In the post-test, the experimental group had an average score of 1.7±1.04, while the control group had a mean score of 2.95±1.76. The calculated ‘t’ value of 5.20 exceeded the table value of 2.02, demonstrating significance at p ≤ 0.05 level. As a result, research hypothesis (H1) was corroborated, indicating the efficacy of the ventilator bundle in preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia among patients undergoing mechanical ventilation. Moreover, the study identified a correlation between preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia and specific demographic variables in both the experimental and control groupsReferences
