Checklist of Auricularia Species Along with Biological Activities

Abstract


Auricularia species is popularly known as wood ear mushrooms in worldwide. The present review work documented a total of eleven species of Auricularia reported from different states of India as well as from other countries of the world. Eight species of them are edible, but other three species are not yet reported as edible. Consuming Auricularia species is beneficial for human health because of its various nutritional properties. Majority of Auricularia species contained low fat and high carbohydrate content, but considerable amount of protein content. Auricularia species are also medicinally important due to different medicinal properties. Auricularia is the most significant mushroom species among the different species of basidiomycota for unique nutritional components and different medicinal properties.
