Pattern of Injuries in Cases of Alleged Rape Victim

Abstract


One of the most atrocious crimes in present society is rape. Rape has become now a major problem for administration all over the world (Verma 1979). This study was done in the department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Assam Medical College and Hospital, Assam from 1st Nov 2010 to 31st Oct. 2011. Out of 171 numbers of Sexual Offences cases brought for medical examination in this department, a total 102 numbers of alleged rape victim cases were selected for the study. This retrospective study aims at the pattern of injuries over the body and genitals of the victims and also at evaluating the age distribution, marital status, victim offender relationship and time interval between the act and medical examination.
