Some Physiological Aspects of the Fresh Water Fish Channa Orientalis (Sch.)

Kirti Kalbande, Jayashree Dhote

Abstract

The fishes and their diseases have importance in life of human due to its high nutritive value. Phosphate and Chloride is an important chemical constituent of fishes which plays important role in the development and metabolism of fish. The present investigation was carried out to study the chloride content and phosphate content of Channa orientalis. It was observed that, phosphate was responsible for metabolism and chloride is an important ionic content of the fish body. In Channa orientalis the phosphate content was increased with body weight while the chloride content was found in muscle, gill, liver and kidney respectively. In this present investigation it was found that the phosphate content was increased in body weight all the tissues. And the chloride content appeared to be decreased with body weight. The content was higher in the muscle, less in gill, lesser in liver and least in the kidney. In this present work the physico-chemical parameters of the water used for the maintenance of the fishes were analyzed. Thus it proves the effect of physiological aspects of the fresh water fish Channa orientalis (Sch.).
