Sexual abuse againstchildren has serious and long-lasting consequences on individual’s physical and mental health, their social and occupational functioning.This study was aimed to assess the effect of assertiveness training on knowledge regarding prevention of sexual abuse and performance of self-defense techniques among students.The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge of students on prevention of sexual abuse, assess their performance of self-defense techniques, evaluate the effect of assertiveness training on knowledge regarding prevention of sexual abuse and performance of self-defense techniques. The study was conducted at Kunnamangalam Higher Secondary School adopting a pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design. The study was conducted among60 samplethose who met the inclusion criteria, selected by simple random samplingtechnique. The conceptual framework for the study was based on Health promotion model by Nola J Pender. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that there is significant difference in the pre-test and post-test scores (p<0.05) of knowledge on prevention of sexual abuse and performance of self-defense technique after intervention and also found that there is no significant association between knowledge regarding prevention of sexual abuse with selected variables.
