Concept of AstauAhar Vidhi Visheshayatanani with an Applied Study of Karana (YavaguAhara Kalpana in PratilomaVata)
Abstract
The main aim of Ãyurveda is to accomplish the physical, mental, social and spiritual well being. Ãhãra plays an important role in the preventive aspect as well as in the treatment of illness. It plays an important role in establishing the phenomena of wear and tear, process of growth and repair supply of energy. Wholesome diet is the prime factor for the growth and development of the body; on the contrary, unwholesome diet causes several diseases. Wholesomeness of Ãhãra varies from each and every person. Acãrya Caraka has described eight factors as Ãhãra Vidhi Viśeṣãyatanãni in Vimãnsthana 1st chapter [1], which are guidelines for the selection of wholesome diet. Everything should be logical and scientific in research work. Present era demands some conceptual, observational and practical data-based work to prove and establish any concept. In the present study, an effort has been made to emphasize the eight factors of Aṣṭau Ãhãra Vidhi Viśeṣãyatanãni and its practical utilization. In the Aṣṭau Ãhãra Vidhi Viśeṣãyatanãni, the factor of Karaṇa would be much more highlighted practically in the means of YavãguÃhãra Kalpanã. Effect of Karaṇa in Kṛta Yavãgu would be assessed in patients of Pratiloma Vãta.
