Abstract

Ayurveda is science of life and its main aim is to maintain healthy status of healthy living being, i.e., prevention of disease and treatment of disease. The Ayurvedic scholars have described in details about various bodily system in relation to their sharir rachna, sharir kriya and vikriti vigyan, etc. Mutravaha sansthan (urinary system) of human body is one among such system, meant for the formation and excretion of mutra (urine), explained in various classical texts. Even in absence of availability of any microscopic instrument, scholars have explained mutra utpatti (formation of urine) so clearly and nicely in detail; it is similar to process of urine formation of modern science. This article lays emphasis on the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda about the mutra w.s.r. to mutra utpatti. This article overview and light up the main study of mutra and mutra utpatti already given in different ayurvedic texts and comparing it with today’s era process of urine formation.
