Theraplay: An Essential Element for Children with Autism—A Narrative Review

Abstract


Children are wonderful blessings that God has given to parents. A child with autism presents significant deficit or delay in various mental functions from early childhood, or developmental disorders or disabilities. Parents and caregivers require assistance in bringing out normal developmental skills of autistic children. They should be supported with the knowledge of disease condition and care of the child, the features and home care management of Autism Spectrum. Research literature was reviewed with regard to autism, and theraplay in the following databases: Pubmed, Proquest, and Google Scholar. Considerable database exists regarding theraplay helping in improvement of their skills and management of autistic children. Research literature supports the necessity of early identification of ASD, and early childhood educators’ group intensive family training that will increase the holistic development of the autistic child in the present situation.
