Methods to Increase Peripheral Veins Visualization in Patients Getting Chemotherapy
Abstract
Peripheral intravenous catheter insertion is a common nursing procedure often required for the administration of chemotherapy, antibiotics, blood products, fluids and other medical therapies. The insertion of intravenous cannula can be extremely difficult, particularly in individuals receiving repeated course of chemotherapy. Because of the nature of chemotherapeutic drugs, the veins may get damaged and makes the intravenous cannulation difficult. The current article highlights certain methods which can enhance the visualization of the peripheral veins.
