Abstract

Nyaya or maxims which are mentioned in commentaries of Ayurvedic texts help us guide through or extract the correct meaning of texts. In the times when these Ayurvedic texts were written, the intelligence of people was immense, so the samhitas were said in least possible words. These nyayas help understand the Ayurvedic texts as the understanding of people also diminished in subsequent yugas. The nyaya described in this article is chhatrinigacchanti nyaya mentioned at many places in the commentaries. This nyaya helps elaborate the sutra and clarify the meaning of the texts.
