Abstract

With the development of new technologies, many teeth with guarded prognosis that used to be extracted in the past can be treated by surgical or non-surgical endodontic treatment. The aim of this study was to analyze the adoption of new endodontic technology by Indian dental practitioners. The questionnaire was given in person to the 500 voluntary dentists and collected. The questionnaires contained general demographic data. These questions were regarding different aspects such as endodontic treatment, isolation method, use of intracanal irrigants, use of intracanal medicaments, choice of obturation technique, determining the working length, and temporary and permanent coronal restoration. The data were analyzed. The autoclave was the main mode of sterilization (88%). A majority (63%) used suction for isolation and few practitioners (12%) used rubber dam, conventional radiograph (71%), 29% use RVG, 67% of practitioners used both rotary and hand files. Normal saline 76% and sodium hypochlorite 16% were used as irrigants, 65% of practitioners used lateral condensation. According to this survey, only some practitioners follow the modern techniques and equipment in the regular endodontic practice. They have to adopt the advances in endodontics to their practice.
