Skills Regarding Health Teaching among Nursing Students

Abstract


Background: Health teaching is the key resource in the nursing workforce that is able to provide health information in the community area. Health teaching and skill development are an essential part of the nursing curriculum. Community hospital experience allows a student’s nurse to improve their skills. With a view of this present study was conducted to assess the skills regarding health teaching among nursing students studying in Saraswati Nursing Institute, District, Roopnagar, Punjab. Aim: The aim of the study was to assess the skills regarding health teaching among nursing students. Material and Method: A quantitative and non-experimental research approach, a descriptive research design was adopted to conduct the study. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the study sample. Data was collected by using Baseline datasheet and Likert scale. The tool was developed in the form of 5 points (excellent, good, average, fair, poor) like art scale was prepared to assess the skills of the nursing students. Data analysis was done by using descriptive and inferential statistics Mean, standard deviation, percentage and association of skills were done with the socio-demographic variables. Result: The finding of the present study reveals that majority of study subjects (71.4%) were having good skills regarding health teaching in current work area whereas (28.6%) study subjects were having average skills regarding health teaching in the current work area. The findings of the study reveal that there was no significant association between skills regarding health teaching with selected socio-demographic variables.
