Breast cancer is a major health problem of today. Transcription factor is nothing but protein that is needed for transcription. Activator protein-1 (AP-1) is a transcription factor of complex oncogene proteins (Jun and Fos). Fos and Jun family participate in many cellular processes which includes proliferation, differentiation and carcinogenesis. Therefore, this study has been designed to study level of transcription factor AP-1 in breast carcinoma. The study was carried on Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) confirmed 60 breast cancer along with 30 normal tissue. There was significant increase in c-Fos and c-Jun protein in breast carcinoma, which may further cause increase in cell proliferation. Therefore, it can be said that steps should be taken to reduce transcription factor AP-1 in carcinoma cases as it is one of the important factors causing carcinogenesis.
