Abstract

Unani system of medicine focuses on the holistic well-being of the individual and community. It comprises of the four modes of treatments/managements. These are the (ilaj bil ghiza) dietotherapy, ilaj bil Tadabeer (Regimental therapy), ilaj bil dawa (pharmacotherapy) and ilaj bil yad (surgery). Among these four modes, one of the most affordable and reliable and result-oriented is the ilaj bil Tadabeer. Various therapies and regimens are the core components of ilaj bil Tadabeer. These regimens have been scientifically proven and found very effective in the disorders ranging from physical to the mental and psychological level. In this unprecedented situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, no one is spared of the mental distress and agony. Though, not recommended for public use en masse, during the prevailing pandemic, Balneotherapy (therapeutic bath or hammam therapy), Dalk (therapeutic massage) and Ilaj bil shamoom (aromatherapy) have a great scope for mental and psychological well-being in the context of the current scenario of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the present study, scope, and significance of classical Unani Tadabeer (regimens) in the mental and psychological well-being in the readiness for the ongoing pandemic situation is discussed.
