The objective of the paper is to compare the effectiveness of cross body stretch and muscle energy technique (MET) on posterior capsule tightness. Its study design is experimental design. Sixty asymptomatic subjects (all males) participated in the study. Both the groups (Group A and Group B) consisted of subjects (n = 30 in each group) with a difference in internal rotation ROM of less than 10 degree. The pre intervention shoulder internal rotation ROM, with arm abducted to 90 degree and scapula motion prevented, was measured before the application of intervention. Subjects in Group A were given cross body stretch once daily for 5 repetitions, holding each stretch for 15‑20 seconds, while subjects with Group B were given once daily for twice a week holding each stretch for 7‑10 seconds. Post intervention data was calculated after 4 weeks. T test was used to compare the data for between and within groups. The improvements in internal rotation ROM for the subjects with muscle energy technique group (51.87±5.32) were greater than for the subjects in the cross body stretch (50.40±5.33). Cross body stretch and MET significantly improves ROM with individuals having limited shoulder internal rotation. While the improvement in internal rotation from the MET was greater than cross-body stretch and of a magnitude that could be clinically significant.
