Abstract

A study on the quality of life (QOL) of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) was conducted in the Kamrup district of Assam. This study was undertaken as a part of a livelihood project for PLWHA. The study was conducted on 40 HIV/AIDS patients. Quality of life (QOL) was evaluated using the World Health Organization’s Quality of Life (WHOQOL) – HIV BREF instrument. The respondents were evaluated according to a pre-designed protocol. The patients filled an additional questionnaire requiring their sociodemographic profile. The study analyzes the overall QOL and the gender differences in the quality of life of PLWHA and suggests various interventions for improving the QOL.
