Knowledge regarding Immunization among the Mothers of Under-Five Children

Background: Immunization is one of the most cost effective, safest and efficient public health interventions for the prevention from several diseases among under-five-year children. Objectives: The aim of the present study is to assess the knowledge regarding immunization among mothers of children under-five-years of age. Materials and Methods: 60 mothers of children under-five-years of age, coming to immunization clinic, were recruited in the study. A self-structured knowledge questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge of mothers regarding immunization. Results: The results revealed that 70% mothers had excellent knowledge regarding immunization, and none had poor knowledge. 43% mothers have pursued higher secondary education. Conclusions: Immunization remains the center of preventive aspects in newborn diseases. However, majority of mothers reported excellent knowledge; still an update and continuous awareness regarding immunization and its benefits must be communicated in the community especially to mother to bring immunization rate at its best.
